My favourite jacket
On my 35th birthday, my father and mother gave me a new leather jacket. It was black. Before that I had a brown leather jacket from the flea market, but it fell apart. This new jacket became my favorite jacket.
For a festival I needed a photo. I asked Niek Koppen, a colleague filmmaker, to make a portrait, just at the end of my street, in the park. On December 17, 1985. I used that photo for publicity for years. That’s where I have that jacket on.

After about 30 years it started to look worn out. I still enjoyed wearing it when working in the garden. But gradually the seams became loose, and a tear came in.

I fixed all that. Worn for several years extra. Until I had to let it go, in 2022.
